Mental health is one of the last frontiers in medicine because we can't measure the problem. To many of the problems are considered "in your head" that it's only now being recognized as an honest illness. I am a sufferer of depression and panic attacks. It takes everything I have everyday just to get up and be somewhat productive. Although everything appears to be well with my life, in reality it's a day to day existence with little thought of actually getting better. What I hope for is just getting through the day. It's in this spirit that I offer
the following suggestions. Remember that I'm not a medical doctor and everyone should seek treatment if only to validate that you're not crazy!

Panic attacks come on at any time of the day or night. If you're ever been so scared and out of control, then you've probably had a taste of what a panic attack feels like to the typical sufferer. Ever feel as if you were in immanent danger and had to flee? That's kind of what a panic attack feels like. It comes on strong, scares the heck out of you, and it's
gone

Here are a few ideas on how to cope...
Once you've finally visited doctor and have been diagnosed with panic attacks you will be offered a course of treatment. In order to make sure the treatment has the best chance of succeeding, YOU need to take control of your life!

1. Participate in Your Treatment

Do not sit back and wait for relief to come by itself! You must remain active and aware of your mind and body's reactions to treatment. Be ready and willing to ask any and every question and to address every concern you have with your health care provider. Open lines of communication will increase the chance of control and success.

2. Be Patient

While many patients respond within weeks or sometimes even days to treatments for panic attacks, no one responds the same. Furthermore, no known treatments for panic work instantly. Be prepared to spend at least a full two months following your initial course of treatment before you start judging its effectiveness. If you still haven't experienced the improvement you were seeking, you can always work with your provider to adjust your treatment plan then.

3. Be Alert To Side Effects

If part of your treatment involves medication, you will likely need to be aware and provide a lot of feedback to the doctor until the dose and type of medicine is determined. Make certain your doctor explains to you the side effects you might have to expect. Usually they get easier to tolerate with time but it's critical that you know what to expect. Your doctor may begin lowering your dosage, or trying alternatives if the side effects are pronounced or cannot be tolerated.

4. Join A Panic Disorder Support Group

If misery loves companionship, then a great source of support, relief and information for those who suffer from panic attacks can be found in the support group. Now I'm NOT a big fan of support groups in that they tend to validate problems instead of focusing on fixing or living with them. I do recognize however that some people find great solace and support in these groups and for those people, please attend and enjoy. Most attendees will be talking about their experiences, their treatments and coping tips.

Just keeping these tips in mind and putting them to use during your treatment may help make you feel much better and increase your chances of treatment being effective.

They are everywhere and every marketer is creating them, a lot of them are offeruing low cost trial's of their membership sites but there is only so much time that a person can sit in front of their computer, connected to the internet. I, fortunatekly have a broadband connection and my computer is hooked to the internet 24 hours a day. so, How can you take advantage of one of these trial accounts for a membership site. one of the many ways is by using an offline browser. When i first take advantage of a new mebership on one of these sites I'll connect with my offline browser which downloads the site to my own computer and then i can surf the site on my own time. When one of these browsers downloads a site to your system it changes all the links so there is no difference from using the site on your own system as opposed to using it while online. except for the fact that on your own system you won't have to worry about surfing the net when everybody else is. The duplicate site on your own system will run much more smoothly and faster. Now one thing to keep in mind is that some of these site's when downloaded could take up a gig of space or more on your own hard drive but usually i transfer these sites to a DVD via my DVD burner.

The only time i'll remain a member to one of these sites after my trial has expired isif I feel that the new posts will be something that i'll benefit from. So far very few have met this criteria but one of the ones i stay a member is the one run by Dan Kennedy. He sends out newsletters both via email and a hard copy once a month in the mail.

I just signed up for one trial tonight which offered a trial mambership for the first month of only a dollar. If I decide to stay a member past the first month the membership is just under $30 per month but if I don't monitor myself these memberships can add up.

The beauty of a trial membership and an offline browser is that once my trial has expired I still have akll the information that was offered for a lower price. I also want to mention that a lot of these marketers never purge their database of the old memberships that don't remain membbers. What this means is that your username and password will still work a year or two later even though you never kept paying a membership fee.

If i had a membership site i would make the password change every month. Give everybody the same password instead of letting them create their own.

Guitar Scales Practice Tip – The Biggest Reason Why Guitarists Can’t Use Scales Musically

To start off this guitar scales practice tip, let me ask you a quick question. When was the last time you learnt a guitar scale to mastery? What I mean “to mastery” is this…

- You can play the scale anywhere on your fretboard.

- You know exactly what each note of the guitar scale sounds like.

- You can see the scale over your entire fretboard.

- You have memorized the notes and scales degrees of the scale. And you can see these notes and scale degrees over the entire fretboard.

- You can solo using the guitar scale without having to think.

- You have a large vocabulary of licks that you can play using the scale.

I’m guessing that you probably said something along the lines of “Never”. And that’s fine! Most guitarists never completely master the guitar scales that they learn. They just learn scales on a very superficial level...

And that is the biggest reason why they struggle to use scales in a musical way when they improvise solos.

Try this experiment for a minute. Start talking about a subject that you know a lot about. It could be about anything. There are no rules! Pretend that you are explaining the subject to a friend. Keep on doing this for a few minutes.

So what did you notice as you did it? Did you notice how you were thinking about the IDEAS that you were trying to convey and NOT the actual words themselves? I can almost guarantee that you didn’t think about the spelling of all of the words that you said. If you did, you would find it impossible to speak fluently…

Why is this?

You have imprinted those words so much in the past that now you don’t consciously have to think when you use them. You spent countless hours learning and practicing those words when you were young. And do you know what?

It MUST be this way with the guitar scales that you learn! You need to learn them so well that you don’t have to think when you play them. It must become as easy as tying your shoelaces. Sure… you might think about the IDEAS you want to convey when you solo, but you don’t want to be thinking about the scale itself. If you do, then fluent and creative improvisation will be impossible.

So what’s the answer? It’s pretty simple. Keep practicing that scale until you don’t have to think! If it takes a month…great! If it takes six months…no problem! Just stick at that one scale until it has been totally mastered.

Appealing to Humanity

We are writing this letter to you in behalf of Gregory Reyes, who is due to be sentenced in your court on November 21, 2007.

We have been close friends of the entire Reyes family for approximately twenty years. We moved to San Diego from Illinois in 1988 when I became a partner in a golf shaft manufacturing company. My wife is a homemaker. We are the parents of two sons, and three grandchildren. I am now retired.

During my professional career, I traveled a good deal of the time, and this placed a tremendous burden on our family. It is for this reason, I am appealing to your humanity. Greg and Penny Reyes have two children, at very vulnerable ages. Taking their father away can only do more damage to this family than has already been done by the trial.

I don't believe the charges he has been found guilty| of warrant a prison sentence, and that for the good of the Reyes family, I hope you feel the same way. Putting Gregory Reyes behind bars will not serve society, but will indeed destroy a family.

Colocation Facility Cooling System Considerations

Most companies know to find a colocation facility that has good Internet service and Internet provider and carrier options. However, cooling systems are often overlooked. Most servers now are made to operate at normal office conditions, which mean that two environmental factors should be met:

• The temperature should stay between 72° F and 76° F
• The humidity should be between 45% and 60%, with 45% ideal
• Cooling units must be on continuously, so servers will not overheat (this precludes standard HVAC units).

If the cooling system goes down, it can cause the equipment to overheat, causing the network to go down and even damaging equipment. Colocation facility cooling systems include three areas: the facility layout, chillers, and computer room air conditioning (CRAC) units.

Servers generate heat as they run. This is generally blown out the back of the server by fans; cool air is taken in through vents at the front. Server racks and rows should be laid out to manage hot air coming from the servers and conditioned air going to their intakes by designating “hot rows,” which face the server fans, and “cold rows,” which face the intakes. Designated hot and cold rows keep air circulating in the best directions to keep servers from overheating.

Facility Design
There are two kinds of building design for colocation facilities: raised floor and solid floor. Raised floor was the preferred structure when servers were towers because the mesh flooring allowed air conditioned air to blow from the bottom directly across their intakes. However, since servers are stacked in racks, cold air must reach the tops of the racks to cool machines. Solid floor facilities are a better option. The facility should take into account the following:

• Solid floor designs must have mesh front and rear doors for th server cabinets to allow hot air to escape.
• For raised floor designs, cold air must have enough air pressure to force air to the top of the server cabinets. Ideally, special duct work will be in place to force the airflow upward.
• For raised floors, server cabinets should not have vents in the doors that would let cool air escape.

Chiller Systems
Chillers pipe water or water/glycol coolants through the CRAC units. Chiller systems include pumps, pipes, and the chillers themselves. The following points should be considered to make sure that the system is adequate to cool the facility:

• Sufficient capacity
• Backup units for the pumps and chillers which switch over automatically
• Regular maintenance

CRAC Units
CRAC units are massive, dedicated air conditioners which manage temperature and humidity. They have many parts and are complicated – meaning failures can be common. The CRAC units should be well maintained, but the most important thing is redundancy. Redundancy is determined by the overall capacity of the CRAC units; there should be enough units that even with a failure, the facility will still be adequately cooled. As with chillers, capacity for CRAC units is determined by tons per square foot.

Verify Capacity
Capacity is determined by the ratio of tons per square foot. To determine whether a system has sufficient capacity, divide the total tonnage of the units by the square footage of the building. If there are four 30-ton CRAC units in a 4,000 square foot facility, then the CRAC capacity is .030 tons per square foot (120 tons / 4,000 square feet). The ideal ratio of tons to square feet for the CRAC system is .030 ton/square foot or higher; the ratio should not be below .025 tons/square foot. This same formula is used for chiller systems, with the same ideal ratios.

It is important to look for a colocation facility that has Internet provider options and backup power systems. Equally important is a facility with the right design, chillers, and CRAC units to cool the server room. Keeping equipment from overheating will keep networks up and makes equipment last longer. Like Internet connections, network uptime, and power backups, cooling systems signify a quality colocation facility.

I Didn't Hear You, Can You Repeat That

Pardon? Say what? Come again? Say that again? Eh? Can you repeat that? Sorry? You what? Aye? I missed that? Hmm?

It doesn't matter how you say it, they all mean the same thing: you didn't hear what was just said.

I've been thinking recently about how often I don't hear what someone has said and how often I ask them to repeat themselves. In some situations I will ask repeatedly, no matter how many time it takes, until I hear. In others, I will only ask once or twice. And, in others, I will not ask at all.

With family and close friends I am happy to ask repeatedly; most, if not all, of them know I am partially deaf and they are usually happy to repeat themselves until the cows come home. Sometimes, and I guess it depends on their mood, they don't want to repeat themselves - this annoys me quite a bit, if what they just said is not worth repeating why was it worth saying in the first place?

The people I really struggle with are the quietly and soft spoken ones. Some people just refuse to speak up and it will not matter how many times I ask them to repeat it, I will never hear them properly! I find myself avoiding speaking to people who I know speak really quietly, just to avoid the hassle - I wish I didn't do this because I'm sure it looks rude to them and I'm no doubt missing out on some good conversation. The obvious answer here is to tell them that I have trouble hearing what they say; I really don't feel comfortable doing that and I can't remember a time when I ever have done. I really should make the effort to start in future.

In the opening paragraph I said that in some cases I will never ask the person to repeat themselves. I used to do this a lot - I used to be too embarrassed about my hearing loss, I tried to hide it as much as possible - I would either try and guess what they said based on the odd word I'd heard or the context of the conversation or simply nod, laugh or give a short answer like "yes" or "no". I realised some years ago that this was a stupid thing to do, I cringe at the amount of times I must have given stupid and meaningless answers. I'm sure a lot of people do this exact thing all the time, it's an easy way out.

It's rarely uncomfortable to ask someone to repeat themselves in a one-to-one conversation; a group conversation can, on the other hand, be very difficult. It is a good idea to position yourself somewhere where you will have the best chance of hearing; this is something you can do when you know that one person in the group is going to be doing most of the talking: the teacher at school/college, someone giving a presentation to a group, and so on. It's not so easy when you don't have a single person to concentrate on: when you are chatting with friends or in an office meeting, it is particularly difficult if there is also background noise such as background chatter or office air-conditioning. It is too easy to loose the conversation when you are having to listen for voices coming from all directions.
